Two parks

Happy Hump DAY!
Yesterday I planned to go to Ha Ha Tonka, but wanted to see if I could get to the boat house at the state park go get the detail on the aquatic trail. Caught someone to talk to – apparently they were switching it over from buoys to gps coordinates but it’s all stymied by the covid so there’s nothing. Which explains why I couldn’t find them.  I can still kayak of course, but no special stopping points with information. Disappointing, but it’s still a big wonderful lake to kayak around on.
Anyway, as long as I was there with the pups, we went for a little hike.
Lucky went along – this one was only 1.5 miles. I knew he couldn’t walk that far, but figured I could carry him that far. He walked almost half the time. He struggles on the uphill, partly cuz he’s old and never had any exercise, partly because he only has one back leg. But he’s doing better with it!
Talked to a young couple with tiny identical twin girls in a stroller, when I was skulking around the campground. Cute. All four of them. They’ll remember me, too, because I departed with, “Enjoy your wonderful life. Don’t screw it up.” Couldn’t help myself. (We remained more than 10′ apart the whole time, of course.)
Loads and loads of squirrel and deer.
Since it was nearby I snuck into the campground and looked around. If you are in a camper you can back in to a smaller site, lovely fantastic spots right along the water.  Another time, in another camper. 🙂
I went inside Lowe’s to see if I could get like an apron – construction, mechanics, something like that.  Nothing, not even in the paint section (the full body suits were snapped up at the beginning of the pandemic. (????))
They have a 3 pack of plain white cotton ones at walmart, it looks like. (I checked online.)  I guess that would do. I’m just tired of ruining my clothes when it’s hitch/unhitch time. I try to be careful.  And goo and then shout mostly gets the grease out, but my shirts look shabbier and shabbier and there’s no reason for it. So … an apron.  There are great rubber ones on Amazon or other online places, but I don’t have that option.  So … might pop into walmart and get those little cotton ones. $9 for 3 of them. Cheaper than one ruined shirt.
Anyway, today I still want to hit that trail I’d planned, over at Ha Ha Tonka, so might take the pups AND the kayak. I will take them on hikes first — a short one with all three, then a longer one with just the two pups. Then I can leave them in the truck for a while and just do a little bit of kayak exploring. The temperatures are great here, can leave windows open.  If you’ve seen the back seat of the truck you know they are very comfortable there and I’ll tire them out on the trails. 🙂
