A fabulous 3 day vacay in the Alachua area with Rhiannon and Roshi along with me and my three. Pics of our float at Ginnie Springs, our “mountain” biking adventure, and the interesting campground and it’s creatures.
Made it up to Forsythe, went over to see Judi’s new house – Stephanie was there too! Brought them their piece of furniture and had a nice visit on their lovely woodsy patio.
Got hold of a guy who was willing to come fix my brake controller on Labor Day … he’s stuck in traffic in Atlanta. Meanwhile I got the laundry done, changed the beds, tidied up … and now I’m blogging. He just called, probably be here in another 30 minutes. It’s a safety issue so I’m going to wait – even though it will make me very late arriving in Kentucky tonight. It was going to be a long drive day anyway… sigh. Oh well. All part of the adventures. Some fun pictures to share.
The guy came and a little jiggling made the brake controller register, but it seemed to come and go. After I paid a fortune for this dubious fix I got on the road. Two hours later a guy flagged me down to tell me I have a smoking wheel–which is not the same as a smoking gun. So, it was very lucky that this was right at a rest stop – so I am pulled into a rest stop north of Atlanta but still an hour south of the Tennessee line. I was supposed to make it to Kentucky tonight. And that four night stay was already down to one night. I may make it tonight… may not. I think I’m going to have to do some domino-effect shuffling of reservations.
Good Sam says theywill have someone to me within a couple of hours. Even if they *can* fix it, it will surely take some time to fix. Maybe I’m fixed and back on the road tonight… maybe I’m waiting here for a flat tow. I have no idea.
But – I kicked on the generator and the air conditioner and we’ll just pretend we arrived at our campsite. Time to feed the dogs in a little while anyway. Who knows, maybe it won’t be a big deal.
My theory is that the guy monkeying around back there trying to fix the brakes caused this problem (it is the back where he was messing around.) Or, it could be that the same problem with the brake controller was an indication of this problem.
I have, over the years, gotten used to the amount of ‘troubles,’ and I try not to blow them out of proportion… but at the moment I’m tired of it, I really am.
Still, I just had a really great four days so stop complaining, right?
